How it works

Register and choose seats

Create an organization account, select a seat count, and pay by card. For larger institutions or purchase-order billing, use the invoicing path instead.

Verify your domain

Add a DNS TXT record to prove you control your institutional domain — for example, university.edu. This takes a few minutes and requires access to your DNS settings.

Members sign up and are covered

Members visit https://www.inkandproof.com/auth/sign-up, create an account with their institutional email, and are automatically covered — no payment, no coupon code.

Individual members do not need a Pro subscription while their institution's plan is active. Members who already have a Pro subscription may cancel it.

What a Proof is — and isn't

An Ink & Proof Proof is behavioral signal plus self-disclosure plus cryptographic signing. It records session count, writing duration, edit density, and any AI involvement the author chooses to disclose. It is not AI detection, and it does not prevent a determined bad actor from retyping AI output by hand across multiple sessions. We say this publicly.

What it defeats is laziness — and what it builds is something more durable than detection: a public commitment to transparency, backed by a methodology you can read and verify.

Eligibility

Self-serve organization accounts are intended for higher-education and adult (18+) users. Institutions that enable access for minor students are responsible for obtaining all parental or guardian consents required under applicable law, including FERPA, COPPA, and any applicable state statutes. By registering an organization account, the registering administrator represents that their institution has complied or will comply with these requirements before granting access to minor users. Questions

How does billing work?
Your organization is billed annually per seat via Stripe. You can upgrade or downgrade seat count at any time through the Stripe Billing Portal in your admin dashboard. For purchase-order or NET-30 invoicing, use the invoicing contact form.
What happens when seats fill?
New members from your domain can still sign up for a free Ink & Proof account, but will not be org-covered until you add seats. Existing members retain access. The admin dashboard shows a notice when you reach capacity.
Can a member who already has Pro switch to org coverage?
Yes. Once their organization's domain is verified and they sign in, they will be covered. They may then cancel their individual Pro subscription from their account page.
Who owns the writing?
The author does, entirely. Organization accounts do not give administrators access to members' drafts, proofs, or session data. We do not train on writing and do not share it. Public proofs are public by the author's own submission.
How does domain verification work?
After registering, you'll be given a TXT record to add to your domain's DNS. This proves you control the domain. Once verified, any Ink & Proof signup with that email domain is automatically covered. The record can be removed after verification.
How do I remove a member?
From the admin dashboard, go to the Members section and click Remove. The member's account is unlinked from your organization and their seat is freed immediately. They retain their proofs and drafts; their plan reverts to free.
What is the 'require approval' join mode?
In approval mode, members with your institutional domain are queued rather than added automatically. An administrator approves each request from the admin dashboard. Useful when you want tighter control over who accesses the org plan.
